Hey everyone, welcome to the hot stove chat. We'll get start in a minute here. Feel free to send your questions/insights/whatever you've got for us.
There's a decent chance he gets a look, probably even before September, if you ask me. I don't want to put a percentage on it. They might add more pitchers, which would decrease the likelihood.
Phil will join in a second here, but I do think they'll add another pitcher.
And Cano, good for him. Earned some money, got someone to overpay. By himself, he won't turn them into a contender.
I DO think the Twins will add another pitcher. I'm hearing rumblings at Target Field -- people believe Terry Ryan could make a fairly big trade next week.
I don't think making room in the rotation is a grave concern. Pretty easy to just bump people from it and have them as depth at Rochester. The day you start making moves to accommodate Sam Deduno is the day you begin to compromise. Not necessary.
The Twins aren't in love with how Sano performed in a half season at Double-A last year, so I don't think he starts the season in the bigs (especially after seeing Aaron Hicks hack the way he did)
On Plouffe: I don't know how much trade value he has. Sure, he can play every position... but not well.
Still think a pitcher is in the works. Offensively, they could afford to upgrade at C, 3B, SS, LF, CF....
Like I said, I think the Twins will really kick the tires on potential trades. Keep an eye on A's LHP Brett Anderson.
So, it's hard to speculate
where they'll look to add.
I don't think he's against the move, but there's a good chance it had to do with business. I'd say more likely than not.
No, they like him at switch. Now, if the trend continues, you've got to consider it.
When I was in Baltimore, Alexi Casilla, of all people, wanted to drop switch hitting and the club wouldn't let him. Really adds value to a marginal player if he can keep his on-base skills respectable.
Considering Anderson's injury history and $8 million contract, I don't think it would take top prospects. I'll throw the question back to you guys: If the A's said "Arcia for Anderson, and he's yours," do you do it if you're Terry Ryan?
I don't think I'd pull the trigger on Arcia for Anderson.
I highly doubt it, Nathan. Conversation starts with Sano, Buxton
I'm fully on board if Rosario-Anderson swap is on the table. No hesitation.
Arcia will rake, yes. But he's a corner outfielder with very limited defensive skills. Those guys are a dime a dozen. See: Willingham, Kubel, Cuddyer...
Terrible in the Majors. Couldn't get through a lineup the second time against big league hitters. Some guys just don't put it together.
Hendriks looks like a quad-A pitcher. I will admit I was totally wrong on him. I thought he'd become a solid No. 3/4
One more good pitcher and the Twins could be very sneaky, yes.
