Hi everyone, welcome to the Timberwolves draft hangout. We'll be here throughout the draft to provide analysis, opinion, and to let you in on the conversation.
We're getting set up at Taget Center, but Wolves guys Darren Wolfson and Nate Sandell will join the conversation here, too.
All set up in the Wolves' media room. Draft kicks off at 6:30. Wolves' pick at No. 13, barring any draft day chaos, should come around 7:30
If they get lucky and Stauskas falls to them, the Wolves are pretty high on him. If he's not there, I'd be looking at guys like Adreian Payne, Rodney Hood or Zach LaVine
I can't speak for Nate, but I don't think I'll have a good idea until a few picks away. Even then, there's a lot of uncertainty.
Sitting at Hubbard Headquarters ready to cap a big sports day. Soccer, baseball and now NBA draft.
No sign of Sid yet. When there is, over/under on length of mustard stain on his shirt is 1.75 inches.
Payne passes the suit test, which apparently has become a thing now...
What Philly ends up doing at No. 3 could have a major influence what happens throughout the rest of the lottery picks, especially if they pass on Embiid.
Name me the last draft involving a Minnesota sports team where there was anticipation about the draft but it had nothing to do with the selection process? Or little to do with it. The 2009 NFL draft comes to mind because the Vikings gave up their first-round pick to get Jared Allen but fans were still super excited by the trade.
Here's why LaVine should worry you: 8 points combined in his 3 NCAA games. He'd get good run in the D-League. He's a clear project.
Nick: not if the return is only Klay and Lee. Return would have to be more than that.
LaVine is undoubtedly a raw prospect. He had a solid finish to the season, but for the most part he's unproven. You're banking a lot on untapped potential by taking him at 13.
Pete: he'd get his win now guys back in the Love trade and will chase Livingston, Blake, etc. with the mid-level. Would have enough win now guys to take a project.
John: Re: Embiid -- I don't see Love landing in Boston.
Mr. Mister -- they have reached out to agents asking about draft and stashing. Figure they'll take one college guy among the 3 picks. Easier to call when we see who's left. Russ Smith and Keith Appling are two names to monitor. Iowa State guys -- Hoiberg connection -- worth watching too.
JZHoodie: Still say 75/25 or 80/20 Love is elsewhere -- probably Golden State -- Opening Night.
I'd keep an eye on Syracuse's Jerami Grant as potential option at No. 40, if he falls that far. Wolves had him in for a workout a few weeks ago.
Nick: convince my wife of that. She disagrees.
