Hi everyone, welcome to the live fantasy football chat. Anthony Maggio will join shortly to take your questions, but I wanted to open up the room so you can get your questions (lineup, trades, etc.) in the queue.
I have, in fact, joined early myself, so I can get stuff started early after a couple news items:
First, the live chat during the week of Thanksgiving will be moved to WEDNESDAY instead of Friday. Since Wednesday will be most people's Friday that week anyway.
That date is November 27. So no chat on November 29, chat instead on November 27.
I'll mention it on the air during Fantasy Football Sunday as well, which you can hear at 9 a.m. every Sunday morning on 1500 ESPN
You can also check out my position ranks on zoneblitz.com, and follow me on Twitter @MPLSMaggio
A couple news-ish things for those of you who it impacts: Jay Cutler WILL play for the Bears against the Lions this weekend
Cutler is My #8 QB this week. He had some turnover issues against them the first time around and he's obviously coming off injury, otherwise he might be even higher
If you're not in a keeper/dynasty league, you can go ahead and drop David Wilson. The Giants put him on season-ending IR with his back issue.
So ends one of the more disappointing fantasy seasons of 2013
Andre Brown has been activated and he'll be the starter for the Giants, though I do expect Peyton Hillis and Brandon Jacobs to get at least a little bit of work, if not more
It also sounds like Roddy White will be back this week.
His owners are obviously itching to use him, but I'd use caution thrusting him back into fantasy lineups.
I've got him ranked 36th simply because we've seen what a limited Roddy White looks like, and it doesn't look good. Presumably he's better off now than he was when he played Week 1, but it'd still be nice to see it first before actually having to count on him.
I've got to go with Mike James there and his guaranteed touches. White with the injury concern plus tough matchup is difficult to trust, and Mike Brown still has to earn his looks as well. There's actually a chance Stephen Burton jumps in and winds up getting more opportunities than Brown does this week
Not to mention, Tennessee has the best cornerback tandem in the league, and Chad Henne's not exactly Peyton Manning
There've actually been some comments out of Jacksonville in the last week praising Burton as a guy who's impressed and will get his opportunity. Could all be a smokescreen, but really, what does a winless team need to smokescreen for?
I can't say it's all that likely, but certainly possible
He went out with a concussion after Week 3 (before Blackmon's return) and had 9 targets in that game
Ponder actually looked pretty good before diving for the pile-on, his lone interception notwithstanding. But that Washington defense, while opportunistic, isn't all that adept at stopping anybody
I've updated my rankings since last night, but believe I had Washington 16th or 17th in my rankings
Decker, Smith and Tate, even if Colston plays
Colston's not done enough production-wise when healthy to earn a place in lineups
Probably Reed, though neither has a particularly good schedule the rest of the way
If I had them both on my roster, I'd definitely be alternating based on matchups
But assuming a neutral matchup, I'd go Reed
Reed's got a tough Week 14 matchup, Gonzo a tough Week 16 matchup
So if you're in position for a first round bye in the playoffs, then definitely Reed
I had Reed going in two leagues last night. So needless to say I wasn't happy with the uncalled hold on the Vikings on that 2nd and goal play when Reed otherwise would've scored
though it was a smart play by I believe it was Henderson. If the alternative is letting the guy score a touchdown, then do what you can to stop it and deal with the 1st-and-goal in the 1 if you're busted
Yeah, there definitely is value in that if you've got the roster space. I don't think Hillman or Ball are guaranteed to be "the guy" if something were to happen to Knowshon. In fact, they really like Anderson in Denver. So if you're just making speculative pickups with that spot, then he's definitely a guy worth considering
Yeah, defenses can key on him with so many guys hurt. I do think he'll be a little better with Roddy White back, but that's assuming White's at full health
Unfortunately no. It sounds like he's going to take his time, so I think the soonest you'd see him is Week 11, with a more likely scenario Week 13
