Sorry, had a technical snafu and I was chatting in a chat where no one else was there, good times.
Well, Marlon Brown may not play, so definitely not him. I do prefer a wait-and-see approach with Blackmon, and think I'd give Royal one final spin against the Raiders to see if he can recapture some of that magic of the first two weeks.
I certainly didn't think Royal would finish with 40 touchdowns this season, but he's taken a dramatic turn in the other direction. If he can't do something against the Raiders, then he's probably not even roster-worthy anymore.
A few programming notes, since I was talking to no one in my previous chat...
we're on for a full hour starting this week! Yay!!!! That means more questions from listeners and more analysis. 9 am every Sunday on 1500 ESPN
The rushing upside of Cam makes him tough to ever bench, but Rivers has a premium matchup with the Raiders and has proven worthy of starting. I've got him ranked 6th, Cam 9th.
Steve Smith is ranked No. 27 at receiver for me this week. He'll do better than he has thus far, though I think his ceiling is lower than what it was the last two years.
The Cowboys provide a much easier matchup than the Jets when it comes to fantasy TE, though the Jets have allowed TE touchdowns each of the last two weeks. I think that Thomas has the higher ceiling, but Gonzo has the higher floor. So it becomes a risk/reward question in terms of what you're looking for this week. I have Thomas ranked higher.
Both of those guys are similar in that they are studs, but still inconsistent based on the other weapons on their teams
Perfect segue. I do think that White has the chance of breaking out this week based on how he looked last week and his overall snap counts. That said, he's definitely still not 100%. White's slowly creeping up my rankings this week, and will be ahead of Givens and Blackmon on my next update.
This is the week that David Wilson finally pays off! I've got him ranked 15th at RB, though that's partially due to some bye weeks. Still, the matchup and the cutting of Da'Rel Scott have set the table for a big day.
I noted my position rankings. You can always find them posted at www.zoneblitz.com. I usually have them up by Wednesday night, though sometimes Thursday morning.
And I'm constantly updating them based on injury news. Generally if you see a bigger name down towards the bottom, like a Miles Austin or Stevan Ridley this week, that means they aren't out for sure, but I don't expect them to play.
There are actually quite a few injury concerns this week. I noted Marlon Brown already, and the two I just mentioned.
LeGarrette Blount and Brandon Bolden could be plug-n-plays because of it.
Nice work! I'd definitely sell high now. He's got two talented guys lurking. With the dearth of good running backs out there right now, I'd definitely aim for a top 15 WR if that's where your needs lie. Perhaps you can buy low on Colston.
I think this is a big week to buy low. Ray Rice is my prime target, though David Wilson's up there too. Both guys should have big weeks, which is going to up their price come next week.
Yeah, he's No. 15 in my rankings for a reason. I think Wilson is definitely startable this week. If he doesn't do something fantasy relevant this week, I'm at a loss, frankly. There's no reason he shouldn't do something this week. Even if the O-line continues to struggle, they should be throwing him screen passes all day.
I was talking about injuries a moment ago, Brandon Marshall and Martellus Bennett were just noted as probable for the Bears. So anyone who was sweating that out can rest easy.
I should probably note you can follow me on Twitter @MPLSMaggio.
I answer questions there, and you can also tweet a question to #1500blitz for Fantasy Football Sunday at 9 am every Sunday. Pretty stoked for that full hour! Definitely looking forward to getting more of your questions on the air.
You can also email questions that may require more than 140 characters to email@example.com
That's a good question. With Austin looking like he won't play I'm going to need to adjust Williams' rankings. The Cowboys are going to have to throw to keep up with Denver. So if Austin doesn't play, I'm thinking Williams is probably your better bet. Rodgers might have a slightly higher floor, but Williams definitely has the most upside.
It actually is sounding more and more like Gronk WON'T play, and if Amendola does play I think he'll be limited at best. That said, I have Nicks ranked one spot ahead of Thompkins right now
Though if both Gronk and Amendola are out, I would move Thompkins ahead of Nicks.
No. Sounds like Ridley isn't going to play. So LeGarrette Blount is a good one-week fill-in. I'd love to say Tavon Austin based on matchup this week, but Chris Givens and Austin Pettis seem just as likely, if not more so, than Tavon to do something. So I'd probably roll the dice on Royal doing well against that Raiders secondary. Both guys present significant risk in terms of their downside, though.
I'd only make the Tate for Blount swap if you're desperate for help this week. Ridley doesn't have anything long-term, and Shane Vereen will be back in 6 weeks. As for WR, Green and Decker are who I'd play, unless it's PPR in which case I'd go Green and Edelman.
I have Ellington stashed on my bench in two leagues, so I'm definitely on the same page with you. I can't say for sure that he'll get that job because A) Arians likes Mendenhall and B) Alphonso Smith could get a crack at it should Mendenhall lose the job. Throw in Arizona's shaky offensive line and I think that Ellington is more of a lottery ticket than anything, but I think he's got better odds than most lottery tickets.
The other RB lottery ticket I'd stash if I had the room is Mike Goodson. It'll probably be a few weeks at least before he's got a decent amount of work, but he could absolutely wrestle that starting job away from Bilal Powell.
also, it looks like Ahmad Bradshaw is done for the year, though he won't make the final decision on neck surgery for a couple weeks.
So if you're holding onto him, that's a roster spot you could free up
Speaking of freeing up a roster spot, if you still have DeAngelo Williams you should be doing whatever you can to trade him now.
