I don't have bye weeks in front of me, but believe Seattle is Week 12. Based on his original timetable I think Week 11 would still be pushing it. Though it'd be nice to see him in Week 10 or 11 to give us a better sense if he's usable in fantasy playoffs. I do think he's worth holding in an IR slot, or sitting on if you've got a deep bench, just as a lottery ticket. But it's tough to say if he'll be REALLY good right out the chute since he's still getting started with a new team when he does come back.
I'd start Alex Smith. In fact, sneak preview for Sunday's show, Smith is my Ballsy Pick quarterback this week, ranked No. 12 in my position rankings.
Very tough matchup for Eli--though I'd hang onto him at least two more weeks if you can. He gets Philly in Week 5. If he's still junk even against that Eagles D, then you can show Eli the door.
though I feel bad about that after watching that Manning special on ESPN. Didn't know that back story about Archie and his dad. Definitely have even more respect for that family than I already did.
We've got 10 more minutes for questions! Hit me up if you've got them! Just stay away from Falcons schedule questions, apparently, since I have them perpetually playing the Dolphins...
Another reminder, you can tweet me questions @MPLSMaggio or to the #1500blitz.
This Sunday is our last half hour show, then we're up to a full hour the rest of the season. So we'll have a lot more time to get to #1500blitz questions and phone calls on the air, which will be nice.
And in case you didn't know, Hunter and I are on at 9 am every Sunday, and you can stream us worldwide, and probably even in outer space.
I have a sneaky feeling I know who this is...
Early in the season I would've said Dalton hands down, but based on Martellus Bennett's emergence and Alshon Jeffery looking like he's made strides, I think it's much more of a coin flip. I think Cutler's the better talent, and they do more with their backs in the passing game, so it's probably Cutler by a nose.
I think both would be wise, though the Chiefs slightly wiser. They are at home as opposed to the Bengals being on the road.
And I don't have the stats in front of me, but I believe that the Chiefs lead the NFL in sacks, and the Giants are allowing the league's most sacks. Bad combo for Eli and the Giants, good for your Chiefs fantasy defense.
Wish I could get this to play audio...
Yep, I'm with you. Colston is off to a slow start (so what else is new?) and Torrey/Antonio have very nice matchups.
That said, I still think that Pittsburgh's offense is in rough shape, and with WR such a deep position Brown is probably a sell-high, especially if he torches the Vikings
I think it depends on roster sizes. If the rosters are big enough that there isn't much out there on waivers, then I hang onto my backup QB to keep him away from others. But with shorter benches, I take my chances shoring up other positions and let others take my QB scraps, especially if you've got Brees, Rodgers, Cam or Peyton.
The other mid-tier guys I can see hanging onto your backup and playing the matchups (talking about the Lucks, Romos and Kaepernicks of the worlds)
yeah Hunter, shut you down
Another reminder, we'll be doing this at noon every Friday during the season except Week 17, though we may bump it to Tuesday or Wednesday the week of Thanksgiving on account of the holiday
we'll make sure to keep y'all posted on that
It's close, but I go Johnson. Like them both as WR2s this week.
Brown and Thompkins. I have a suspicion that while Rice broke out last week, Golden Tate is going to get his sooner or later.
So I'm hedging a bit on both Rice and Tate until one is established as the No. 1
I'd kind of like him to, but I think if somethign were to happen to Mendenhall it'd wind up being Alphonso Smith on 1st and 2nd down with Ellington on third downs.
But of all the AZ backs, I like Ellington's upside the most. I'm sitting on him in 2 leagues just in case.
We're about out of time. Thanks everyone for joining!
Hit me up on twitter (@MPLSMaggio) and check out my weekly rankings at zoneblitz.com
Hope you'll tune in on Sunday at 9!
Edelman in PPR, Snelling otherwise.
Catch everyone enxt week!
