Hey everyone welcome to the discussion. Send your questions/thoughts/whatever, we'll get going in a second here.
Hey guys! Before we get started, here's the Full House theme song
I think he'll have a better year this year than last. And the cost is reasonable. I'm not saying it will certainly be a great signing, but it has the potential to be a good value play.
I'm OK with it. In a perfect world, it would have been nice for the Twins to get Ubaldo Jimenez or Matt Garza on a two- or three-year deal, but those guys are reportedly aiming for more years and more than $12 million per season
He got better further removed from TJ surgery
Pelfrey could be a solid 2-WAR pitcher, much like Carl Pavano. In fact, there are a lot of parallels between Pavano and Pelfrey.
TR is downplaying Pinto and Sano arm injuries. Sano had inflammation throughout the season. I still think Twins sign a platoon catcher to ensure Pinto doesn't have to play every day.
Pelfrey has a much better track record than Correia, and he's younger. Correia's career FIP (ERA with defensive help stripped out) is 4.50. Pelfrey's is 4.17.
Plus, TJ surgery usually means pitchers have a bionic arm for like three years afterward...
The Twins are still in contact with Johan and Santana is open to a return, per our own Doogie Wolfson. I think the chances of grabbing Santana as a reclamation project are much higher than outbidding the Dodgers, Yankees, Rangers, etc. for Tanaka's services.
I think you'll see them bring in a veteran catcher, but the market has really, really thinned out in that regard. I'm not high on Kurt Suzuki or John Buck, but if you're just looking at a one-year deal to ease in (and see what you've got with) Pinto, then fine.
Anyone else who references "wins" in this hangout gets sent to the penalty box.
Projecting wins is kind of pointless, as is using insults like "turd."
In theory, Aaron Hicks figures it out and bats leadoff all year. Otherwise the Twins will have to use a guy like Alex Pressly. I think Dozier is more of a run-producer with his power and mediocre OBP.
I think it's between Aaron Hicks and Alex Presley. Would be surprised to see them sign a free agent to bat leadoff.
50-50. Either he will or he won't.
And that was kind of flippant, but I do think it's about 50-50
It's really hard to say right now. It all depends on spring training.
Probably depends on his spring and what the Twins think of Alex Presley in CF. One of those two will head north with the job, is my guess
Once Sano arrives (to fill gap in middle of the order), I love Mauer at the top. Otherwise, Mauer should bat No. 2
Nick, Plouffe probably starts the season at third but I think you'll see Sano by September, if not earlier.
Randy, I think the Kubel signing puts Parmelee on notice more than Doumit. The Twins can still use Doumit in an OF/1B/DH/C utility role. Parmelee needs to figure it out quick.
If you're the Twins, you'd like to see Arcia and Florimon command jobs, but I don't trust that they will.
Furthermore, Willingham would be third on that list but I think he's wearing a different uniform on August 1.
